FAQs
Can I rent more than one bike at once?
Yes, you can rent up to 5 bikes at once! Just make sure to select the correct number of vehicles right at the beginning of your booking process.
Can I leave the bike anywhere?
No. We work hard with the cities to keep the streets clean and accessible for everyone. Please return your Donkeys to specific drop-off locations when you are done for the day.
What if I have issues?
Our support team is always happy to help and understands that life happens.
HOW PRICING WORKS
Just Ride (Pay as you go)
With no strings attached. Just Ride is ideal for trips from 15 mins to a few hours. You can also top up your Donkey Wallet with money and we will give you bonus credit that you can use for Just Riding.
Day Deals
In some cities, we have rolled out day deals which are great for when you just need a bike for the 1,2,3, or up to 7 days. Visiting for a weekend or inspired to explore like a local when you're on vacation? This is the perfect solution for you or a guest visiting you.
Monthly memberships
With a Donkey membership, you pay a fixed monthly fee and get a certain amount of free time per day. If you exceed the included daily free time, your rental is extended for a low fixed cost. Ideal for the daily commute and for a busy city life with multiple errands throughout the day. Valid in all Donkey cities.

We are a team of 40(ish) firm believers in cycling as the most efficient mode of transportation and the only one our cities need. We work by the rule that any decision we make will have to bring us closer to being a sustainable, affordable, and reliable mobility provider. My bike Didnt lock, When i try to call the number stops the call. And all other comunications are either bots or email that dont respond to you.

Recommends not use this E-bike.
I only rode for 30 minutes, and locked the bike, but it did not work. My money Get higher and higher. I am unable to lock my bike/and my rental ride. I have tried all the methods to end the ride which is mention on the app and on google.

Problems!
I ended my ride, and clicked on end my ride in the app, locked the bike as told in the app. Then the problem started. I got a failure message over and over again, that the bike wasnt locked and that there was a connecting problem. I tried several times to lock and end ride in app, and only got a failure message. I tried to call costumer service several times, but the call ended before I got to talk to anyone, then I sent 3 e-mails to explain the problem. Now, 2.5 hours later, I havent got any response - and the timer in the app is still running and the cost is getting higher and higher! I am stressed out im not gonna get help to end my ride, and that this will cost me a fortune.. Im in desperate need to get contact with this people!!...

Perfect for holiday stay!
Tested two bikes two days in Copenhagen and it works very well. The bikes were good and the price decent. Be aware that the price is getting lower and lower, so it may pay to keep the same bike during the entire holiday stay

The worst
Basically got scammed in Oslo. 600kr for a 10 min ride. Would never use them again. Contacted customer support and still waiting for a reply and a refund.

Tids svindel!
Dette var helt forferdelig, det tok lang tid for å begynne turen etter mye error.
Når vi lå sparkesyklene tilbake der vi fant dem fikk vi ikke kansellert turen! Prøvde å ringe dem uten hell, og sende flere mailer. Aktuell sum var 160kr vi ble belastet 300kr. Styr unna, desidert den værste appen sålangt.

Worst bike rental ever
I’ve been using Donkey Republic a few times. It’s by far the worst of all the bike apps in Copenhagen. Most of the bikes on the map are not there; when you find one, it’s not possible to unlock. Most bikes that I have used have one or more severe defects. I spend about 30 minutes on average locating a bike (I live downtown) and another 30 minutes regretting my choice. The app is also really bad.

Fraud
Got billed €21 in the app which was fair enough BUT my bank statement said €36! The bike was not where it supposedly said on the map. However - bikes were nice to ride. Real bummer that I have to send an e-mail and hopefully get my money back - especially now that I read other reviews and others seems to have had the same issue. 100% not ok

I really wish the whole thing with the app was easier to set up (when you are visiting a city for couple of days you don’t want to waste time on trying to figure out stuff like this)!! When I finally got the app working i was given a bike that wasn’t there...couldn’t actually go for a bike ride at all...wish i could leave a good review, but i can’t! Sorry

Poor and expensive rent
Got charged over 100kr for a 30min of riding, but the app said it would 50kr and it had to be brought to an Donkey Republic stand if not i would have to pay a 10€ extra? Bad to pay that much for a common bike, not Even electric

Can’t launch the app after the latest update. It just keeps crashing.

Dishonest
They charged me 10€ for a so called misplaced bike 1 WEEK after I rent the bike. Either it’s misplaced and you warn the user immediately, either it’s not misplaced. You don’t charge people 1 week after the fact for no reason. Scammers.

The bikes are sturdy and the gear works like a clock. Perfect type of bike to cruise around and see the city. The app and the lock works well. Had no problems.

Amazing value and so easy to use
Both the app and the bike itself was superb. Good value, easy to use and everything very user friendly. A better alternative to renting bikes the traditional way, and much better than the overpriced public bikes in Copenhagen.
Only one minus with the service, being that I experienced the lock usually would not open at the first attempt. However it always worked when quitting and re-opening the app.
